CAMP SPACES ARE FILLING UP
By registering by the March 1st Early Registration deadline, families ensure that they get preference of dates and choices of instructional activities. Also take advantage of the early registration discount price.

Registration forms can be downloaded and filled out, or you can complete your child’s registration online. Get all the information you need on our Register page.

2013 IS THE 30th YEAR OF CAMP CELTIC!
For three decades Celtic has been providing campers with unique adventures and growth opportunities, and our family of past campers and staff numbers in the thousands.

Almost all of these campers experienced their first ‘stay over’ camp at Celtic, and most of our new campers hear about camp by word-of mouth. We are happy and a bit humbled to be an important part of the lives of these campers.

2013 PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS
• 0% Inflation
If you register before March 1st, your camp fees are frozen at the early registration rate of 2012.
• Killarney Canoe Tripping
A really great programme for the older camper. Limited enrollment, sessions 5 & 6. The first week is spent at camp and then a week in Killarney.
• Leadership Training
A ten-day session focusing on group dynamics, self-awareness, leadership styles, and camp counsellor training in a learn-by-doing environment. Ages 16+.
• Flexibility of Dates
Camp can be tailored to each camper for a stay of one week, or longer by combining two or more camp sessions. Discounts apply for longer camp stays or for multiple family members.

Revenue Canada recognizes that childrens’ Camps are important venues for physical activity. That is well and good! It means that your family will probably receive a tax credit for a portion of your camp fees.

Beyond that little bonus however, is an underlying truth. Camp Celtic (and other OCA camps) have been helping kids define their values, their way of life, and their physical beings for many years. During times when schools, agencies, and other kindred organizations have had ups and downs, Camp has been there…
I have always said that Camp is special to me because I am a better person when I’m at Camp. I am breathing fresh air, doing new and exciting things, meeting new and interesting people, and pushing myself physically, mentally, and spiritually. I feel wonder, compassion, and awe in a heightened way. I can be myself. I leave Camp better than when I arrived.

Over the long haul, we all have decisions to make about how we live. Camp’s influence has always impacted many of my own such decisions.

So if we now have a tax credit because campers engage in some hours of physical activity at Celtic… fine. But let’s be honest. The hours spent at Camp, physically active or not, have a far greater, and longer lasting value than can be measured by Revenue Canada.

REGISTRATION TIME IS HERE!
By the time you read this newsletter, there will only be a few short weeks until camp opens for school trips, and a couple of months until summer! Hard to believe, but our abbreviated winter is just about over. By registering early, campers ensure that they get preference of dates and choices of instructional activities.

CAMP NEWS
We’ve been busy here at Celtic, making some improvements to the dining hall, parking and entrance areas, a new admin building and more. Check out our Facebook page or website for photos as camp opens up this spring!

29 Years and Counting!
Since 1984 Celtic has created thousands of fantastic camp experiences for kids from throughout Ontario and around the world. Now almost 3 decades old, we are seeing children of the children who were campers in our early years. What a feeling! Camp is truly an inter-generational wonder, and a lasting gift of summer!

Our camper to staff ratio is about 3:1 and all of our activity staff are specialists in their field. Since 1984 Celtic has been the full-time, family business of founders Tim & Kris Matheson.

The 28th season of Camp Celtic is now officially underway! Your family will have fun choosing dates, picking the most interesting programs, finding out when your camp buddies are going…very exciting!

We are excited too! We’ve been working hard this fall renovating some of the older cabins, putting camp “to bed” for the winter, and (best of all) planning for next summer. We have expanded our Canoeing options for campers, added Rugby to our sports lineup, and created brand new, vibrant activities called Planet Earth and Wilderness Survival. Celtic’s webpage has also been updated.

None of these changes, however, will alter what really makes camp, well…camp! The memories that are built at Celtic revolve around the stuff that goes on here… the campfire, all-camp games, the waterfront, and the instructional programs… but those memories are founded on the interactions with the people we meet at camp.

Whether you are a Counselor, a Camper, a Leader-In-Training, or a senior Staff member, each summer is made rich by the prospect of meeting new people and reuniting with old friends.

We will all sing, laugh, meet, and say farewell again in just a few short months!
